Who We Are

Rise for ALS Chattanooga, Inc. is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Ringgold, Georgia.

Our mission is to raise funds and visibility for ALS research and local Chattanooga and North Georgia ALS family support; including care services, equipment assistance, and community connection.

Jacqueline Stepp

Jacqueline Stepp is the founder of Rise for ALS Chattanooga, Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to restoring awareness, support, and community resources for families impacted by ALS across the Chattanooga region. A mother and co-owner of True Plumb LLC alongside her husband Zac, she brings strong community partnerships through regional business networks and grassroots outreach. Inspired by losing multiple family members to ALS, including her mother, Jacqueline has made it her fight and mission to ensure no family faces ALS alone.

Stephanie Carlsten

Stephanie Carlsten is the co-chair of Rise for ALS Chattanooga, bringing extensive experience in event planning, volunteer coordination, and large-scale community outreach. As an active member of the Chattanooga Rotary Club, she connects the organization with civic leaders, businesses, and philanthropic partners who strengthen the walk’s impact and visibility. Motivated by witnessing ALS affect her family firsthand, Stephanie is committed to helping deliver hope, awareness, and meaningful support to families facing the disease.

Co-Chair & Event Director

Shelby Turner serves as Secretary and Board Member for Rise for ALS Chattanooga and is the Community Relations Director at the Lantern at East Hamilton (Morning Pointe), as well as a community educator with the Alzheimer’s Association. With more than a decade of experience in senior care and neurodegenerative disease advocacy, she brings valuable insight into the needs of patients, caregivers, and families. Shelby’s background in community outreach, education, and volunteer leadership strengthens Rise for ALS Chattanooga’s mission to support and connect families impacted by ALS.

Hayley Dunn

Hayley Dunn serves as Treasurer for Rise for ALS Chattanooga and is a respected insurance broker with Atlas Insurance and an active BNI member. Known for her strong community connections and passion for supporting nonprofit initiatives, she regularly uplifts mission-driven organizations throughout the Chattanooga area. Hayley played a key role in encouraging the creation of Rise for ALS Chattanooga and uses her networking and relationship-building skills to connect corporate partners with the organization’s mission.

Jelena Knowles serves as Marketing Director for Rise for ALS Chattanooga, combining a lifelong love of storytelling, music, and community connection with a background in business administration, promotions, and event coordination. With years of volunteer experience and a passion for bringing people together, she creates meaningful campaigns that amplify awareness and engagement. Jelena is dedicated to helping Rise for ALS build powerful connections, ensuring the organization’s message reaches and resonates with families and supporters across the region.
